In accordance with the Code of Virginia, the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation is updating the master plan for Raymond R. “Andy” Guest Jr. Shenandoah River State Park located in Warren County, VA. The purpose of a master plan is to guide the management and development of a park by identifying natural, cultural and physical resources; identifying park needs; and engaging with the public. Virginia state park master plans are updated every 10 years.
El parque está ubicado a lo largo de la bifurcación sur del río Shenandoah y tiene más de 1600 acres a lo largo 5.2 millas de costa. El parque abrió sus puertas en junio de 1999. Además de la serpenteante frente al río, el parque ofrece vistas panorámicas de la montaña Massanutten al oeste y del Parque Nacional Shenandoah al este. Una gran área de picnic junto al río, refugios para picnic, senderos, acceso al río y un lanzamiento de botes con techo para automóviles hacen de este un destino popular para familias, pescadores y piragüistas. Doce campamentos de tiendas de campaña frente al río, un campamento con sitios de agua y electricidad, cabañas, cabañas de campamento y un campamento grupal están disponibles. Con más de 25 millas de senderos, el parque tiene muchas opciones para practicar senderismo, ciclismo, paseos a caballo y aventura.

A public comment meeting will be held on January 20, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. to present the draft master plan for public review and comment.
The meeting will be held at the Samuels Public Library, 330 E Criser Road, Front Royal, VA 22630, in the White Meeting Room A.
The meeting presentation will be available on this web page after the meeting.
A 30-day public comment period will follow the meeting. Please email your comments to PlanningResources@dcr.virginia.gov and put “Shenandoah River State Park Comment” in the subject line.
You are also invited to participate in the “Your Comments Count” survey, which gives us information about the types of recreational opportunities you want at the park. The survey can be found at https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/other/your-comments-count.
