Submit Projects, Initiatives and Funding Opportunities

The Coastal Resilience Web Explorer includes two “living” inventories to support flood resilience in coastal Virginia: the Projects & Initiatives Inventory and the Funding Opportunities Database.

The User Portal is a companion online platform to the web explorer. It allows localities, planning district commissions, state agencies, non-profits, universities and others to submit updates directly to the inventories.

Once approved by DCR, submitted entries to the user portal will appear directly in the web explorer. The portal is designed to make it easy to share information with all types of stakeholders in a format that is regularly updated.

Projects and Initiatives graphicProjects & Initiatives Inventory:
highlights efforts across coastal Virginia to build more flood-resilient communities. From on-the-ground infrastructure projects to strategic initiatives that build local government capacity, the inventory documents a wide variety of activities planned, underway and completed.
Funding opportunities graphicFunding Opportunities Database:
provides a comprehensive source for identifying funding programs and mechanisms to finance flood resilience projects and initiatives in coastal Virginia. Users can search and filter the opportunities, as well as download the list of opportunities to their computer.

What are the benefits of participating?

  • Showcase resilience priorities and accomplishments in a state planning tool.
  • Help create an accurate record of flood resilience investments.
  • Access recommendations for grant and loan funding opportunities for submitted projects.
  • Take part in regional collaboration and knowledge sharing.

What types of projects and initiatives can I submit?

Any programs, studies, plans or projects located in coastal Virginia which are led or supported by the government, and which have a primary purpose to address the impacts of flooding on people, the environment, or the economy.

How do I get started?

To gain access to the user portal, submit a completed User Access Form via email to DCR at Resilience.Explorer@dcr.virginia.gov. DCR will provide you with a login so that you can begin adding new entries and updating existing ones for your organization.
