DCR is looking for talented people to fill positions listed below. Unless stated otherwise, you must complete and submit an electronic state application by the job announcement's close date.
Generally applications must be made through the RMS (electronic state application). We will, however, accept paper applications for some state park slots. Be sure to refer to the individual recruitment for specific requirements.
Certain positions require a criminal background check, a conflict of interest financial statement or both. Law-enforcement positions require a fingerprint-based FBI investigation. DCR is an EEO/AA/ADA Employer.

Hourly Rate: $13.00 per hour
Responsible, goal-oriented individuals needed who can work as part of a team, take direction from others and capable of working unsupervised. Position focuses on the daily upkeep of park facilities, grounds, and positive interaction with a diverse public. Duties include, but not limited to landscaping, trash removal, and limited restroom and facilities cleaning. Perform basic upkeep and maintenance of equipment and vehicles; report repair needs as required to supervisor.
We provide on-the-job training. The Trades Technician may be required to perform other park-related duties during emergencies or on a nonrecurring basis. Position requires shift work, including weekends and holidays. The individual is required to currently possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Virginia driver's license. This position can be an outstanding first step toward a lasting career with the park service!
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a general knowledge of basic care and use of hand tools, power tools, and cleaning supplies. Must be able to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and night shifts. Must be 18 years old and have a driver’s license with reliable transportation.
Additional Considerations:
Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and masonry is not necessary but preferred.
Special Requirements:
A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
